Pooled funding, carryovers and final refund
Every player contributes $1 on every hole, so each new hole pot is 2 × $1 = $2. A unique low scorer receives the current pot; a tied low score carries that pot only because this fixture says so. This is a pooled-funding convention, not an each-opponent-pays convention. Hole 18 is tied in the fixture, so its unresolved $2 is refunded in equal $1 shares rather than treated as an automatic rollover. Carryovers, refunds and any alternative pay-each-opponent settlement must be agreed before play.
Table
| Player | Contribution | Skin winnings | Final refund | Net settlement |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Alex | $18 | $16 | $1 | -$1 |
| Ben | $18 | $18 | $1 | +$1 |
Worked example
Hole 2 has a tied low score, so its $2 joins Hole 3's new $2; Hole 3's unique low scorer receives $4.

Common questions
Is a carryover required in Skins?
No. A carryover after a tied low score is a house choice; this $1-per-hole, 2-player fixture uses it, which is part of why the pool can reach $18 across 18 holes rather than being split hole by hole.
Does each player pay every opponent?
No. This draft pools one $1 contribution from each of the 2 players on every hole, not a cross-payment where every opponent pays every other opponent separately.
What happens to the final tied pot?
This fixture refunds $1 to each of the 2 players by prior agreement -- the final $2 unresolved pot split evenly rather than carried further.
