Meaning
A Net Prize is an award decided using a player's Net Score rather than Gross Score. It normally belongs to a handicap or net division, so the competition terms should state eligibility, handicap method, tie-break procedure and whether the award is a voucher, goods or another permitted prize.
How it matters in match play
Net Prize is not a standard way to decide an individual Match Play result: a match is won by taking more holes, using net scores where handicap strokes apply. A club may nevertheless offer a separate net prize for a qualifying or accompanying Stroke Play event. That payout is a competition condition, not a Rules of Golf match result.

Common questions
Is a Net Prize based on gross or net score?
It is based on Net Score: the player's Gross Score is adjusted by the handicap strokes allowed under the competition terms.
Is Net Prize an official Rules of Golf term?
No. It is common competition language rather than a defined Rules of Golf format. The organiser should publish what the prize means and how ties are settled.
Can a Match Play event include a Net Prize?
It can if the Terms of the Competition create an additional prize, but the match itself is still settled by holes won, lost or tied. Do not assume a net prize changes the match result.
Does every club calculate a Net Prize the same way?
No. Handicap allowances, divisions, tie-breaks and prize eligibility can vary by the Terms of the Competition and local governing-body requirements.
Can an amateur receive a Net Prize?
R&A Rule 3 of the Rules of Amateur Status says an amateur in a handicap competition may accept a non-cash prize up to the stated limit, while prize money is not allowed; check the applicable national rule and event terms.
What should the organiser publish for a Net Prize?
Publish the scoring method, handicap basis, eligible division, prize type, tie-break method and any limit or restriction that applies.
