Meaning
Net Aggregate is the combined total of a player’s net scores over two or more rounds or qualifying results. Each net score is the applicable gross score after the competition’s handicap strokes are applied; the net scores are then added, with the lowest total usually ranking highest.
How it matters in match play
Net Aggregate is not the normal way to decide a head-to-head match: match play is settled by holes won, lost or tied, with the lower net score winning an individual hole when handicaps apply. A competition can still use a separate net aggregate across qualifying rounds before a match-play stage, but that is a term-of-competition arrangement, not a match-play scoring rule.

Worked example
For an illustrative three-round event, Alex returns gross scores of 90, 88 and 92, with competition handicap deductions of 18, 17 and 18; the net scores are 72, 71 and 74, so Alex’s Net Aggregate is 217.

Common questions
Is Net Aggregate the same as Net Score?
No. Net Score is the adjusted result for one hole or round; Net Aggregate is the sum of multiple net scores, usually across rounds or specified qualifying results.
How do you calculate Net Aggregate?
Calculate each result’s net score using the handicap method stated in the Terms of the Competition, then add those net scores. For example, 72 + 71 + 74 = 217.
Does Net Aggregate decide a match-play result?
Usually not. A match is normally decided hole by hole, while a Net Aggregate may be used for qualifying, a separate event classification, or another competition arrangement specified by the Committee.
Is Net Aggregate an official WHS handicap term?
The phrase is used in competition conditions, but it is not a universal WHS handicap allowance or calculation formula. The Committee must state which rounds, handicap method and tie procedure apply.
Can two players tie on Net Aggregate?
Yes. The Terms of the Competition should state whether tied totals produce joint places or are separated by a nominated tie-break method, such as countback where permitted.
Does Net Aggregate include gross scores?
It can be contrasted with Gross Aggregate. Net Aggregate adds adjusted net results, whereas Gross Aggregate adds the actual stroke totals before handicap strokes are applied.
