Meaning
A Result Sheet is a competition record that states who played, the result, and any relevant score or finishing information. In golf it may be a club's form, spreadsheet or noticeboard entry; the expression is practical rather than a universally defined term in the Rules of Golf.
How it matters in match play
A Result Sheet can record each pairing and the final Match Result, such as Alex beating Ben 3 and 2, or a halved match. It is an administrative record, not a separate scoring method. The Committee's Terms of the Competition should say when a result becomes final; the R&A gives recording on an official scoreboard or reporting to an identified person as examples.

Worked example
On an illustrative Result Sheet, Alex–Ben is recorded as Alex won 3 and 2, while Chris–Dana is recorded as All Square after 18 holes; these entries summarise the Match Result rather than inventing a historical competition.

Common questions
Is a Result Sheet the same as a Scorecard?
No. A Scorecard records hole scores during play. A Result Sheet normally summarises competition outcomes, often across several matches, and may use the final Match Result rather than every stroke.
What should a match-play Result Sheet show?
At minimum, identify the pairing and state the result clearly, such as a win by 3 and 2, a win by 1 up, or a Halved Match. A club may also include a round, flight or date under its own administrative procedure.
When is a match result final?
The Terms of the Competition control the administrative process. Under Rule 3.2a(5), the result becomes final when it is recorded on an official scoreboard or other identified place, or reported to a person identified by the Committee.
Is Result Sheet an official Rules of Golf term?
Not as a standalone defined term in the Rules of Golf. Treat it as ordinary competition-administration language, and follow the event's own form and Terms of the Competition.
Does every match-play round require a Result Sheet?
No universal requirement is established by the term itself. The USGA notes that a player is not required to keep a scorecard in match play, so any Result Sheet or reporting process depends on the Committee and the competition's Terms.
Can a Result Sheet replace the Committee's ruling?
No. It records the outcome after the relevant process. A Rules question should be handled under the Rules and by the Committee or referee where applicable; an administrative mistake can require corrected results.
