What is Tee Sheet in golf? A tee sheet is the schedule used to organise golf starting times, showing which players or groups are assigned to each available slot. Illustrative example: a tee sheet lists Alex and Ben at 8:10 am from the first tee, with Chris and Dana at 8:20 am; if the event uses a shotgun start, it can instead assign each group a different starting hole and time.

Meaning

A tee sheet is the schedule used to organise golf starting times, showing which players or groups are assigned to each available slot. A club may use it for ordinary bookings, competitions or both; its layout and booking rules are determined by the club or event organiser.

How it matters in match play

In match play, the tee sheet tells Alex and Ben when and where their match is due to start, and may show their pairing or starting hole. It does not decide the match score, handicap allowance or result. The Committee or club can set additional entry, arrival and pace-of-play conditions in the Terms of the Competition.

Common questions

Is a tee sheet the same as a tee time?

No. A tee time is one scheduled starting slot; the tee sheet is the wider list or schedule containing many slots and their assigned players or groups.

Does a tee sheet determine who wins a match?

No. It organises starting arrangements. Match scoring, handicaps and the result are settled under the format and applicable competition conditions, not by the tee sheet.

Can a tee sheet show a shotgun start?

Yes. A tee sheet can allocate groups to different starting holes for a shotgun start, alongside the relevant starting time and player or group details.

Is Tee Sheet an official Rules of Golf term?

It is a common administration and scheduling term, not a defined Rules of Golf term. A club or Committee may still use one to publish or manage starting arrangements.

Who controls changes to a tee sheet?

The club, competition organiser or Committee normally controls changes, subject to the event's booking process and Terms of the Competition. Players should follow the published instructions rather than assume a slot can be changed informally.

What information can appear on a tee sheet?

It may show the date, course, starting hole, tee time, player names, group or pairing, and available or reserved slots. The exact fields vary by club and event.
